UTEP Football needs a road victory at either C-USA West Division co-leader Houston or East Division leader East Carolina to gain bowl eligibility, but head coach Mike Price sounded downright patriotic about his team's chances.

"We've talked about how this is a great opportunity for us," he said. "My definition of the American dream is getting an opportunity and working hard and then you can make your dreams come true. We have an opportunity and now we need to work hard."

The Miners (5-5, 4-2) have won two straight games and five of their last seven to get back to .500 after an 0-3 start to the season. The Cougars (6-4, 5-1) have won five of their last six games, including last week's 70-30 rout of Tulsa.

Price's defense has played much better lately.

Vittatoe completed 24 of 33 passes for 294 yards and one interception for the Miners (4-5). Terrell Jackson added 105 yards on 14 carries. Tyrell Fenroy rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries, and also added 58 yards on two catches for the Ragin' Cajuns (5-4).
